Monument Square District hosted another exhilarating 4 Miler race on Friday evening, drawing runners from near and far to the scenic Melvin Miller Park. Despite the heat, the event saw impressive participation and spirited performances, particularly from the younger athletes.
Dmitri Pack emerged as the male overall winner, completing the race in a swift 27:08.3. On the female side, N. Wheeler led the pack with a time of 34:06.3. Remarkably, both winners are in the under-15 category, showcasing the promising talent of the next generation of runners. The race course, renowned for its beauty and challenge, began in Melvin Miller Park, wound through the bike path, and concluded back at the park. Participants and spectators alike praised the picturesque route, highlighting the park's natural charm as a standout feature of the event. One of the race's dedicated participants made the journey all the way from Kentucky, underscoring the race's growing reputation and appeal. The event's success was further bolstered by Speedy Feet, which has been timing the races every second Friday in June for the past eight years. "Jeff has been great to work with," said one of the organizers, reflecting the strong partnership that has helped the event flourish. The organizers extended heartfelt thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made the race possible. With hopes of continued growth, the Monument Square District 4 Miler stands as a testament to community spirit, athletic dedication, and the sheer joy of running in a beautiful setting.
